Fascinating Witnesses of Days Gone By

As well as its art treasures, Sigmaringen castle also possesses one of the largest private weapons collections in Europe.

Prince Karl Anton’s passion for collecting weaponry culminated in a number of singular and unique weapons dating from the 14th – 20th centuries, laying the basis for this unusual and extensive collection.

In the spacious arsenal, more than 3,000 exhibits document the development of arms technology, armaments, offensive and defensive weapons. Defense weapons as well as handguns, shields and suits of armour are on display here.

Particularly noteworthy are such rare objects dating from the 15th century as a German multi-barrel gun, a body shield and a richly engraved helmet once belonging to a royal bodyguard from ca.1622.
