The Hohenzollern Hymn
Long before the Hohenzollern region was enveloped into Baden-Württemberg, the proud Hohenzollern population created its own hymn. Spread by soldiers and travelling apprentices from 1860 on, the song is an ode to Hohenzollern scenery combined with recurring themes of farewell and homecoming. The author of the hymn is unknown. It was possibly composed in 1849, when the Hohenzollern land was ceded to Prussia after the princes of Sigmaringen and Hechingen relinquished their sovereignties.
